Albania, as part of the southern Mediterranean region is expected to have a positive tourism trend during 2017. Based on the third quarter assessments made by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the region that includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Greece, and Montenegro will have positive expectations. The tourism industry in Albania is expected to increase by 2.7 percent while international tourist arrivals is expected to increase by 3.1 percent.
According to the report, the number of tourists to one out of three destinations in Europe will double. Meanwhile, Turkey has seen a 32percent decrease in its tourists industry. According to the report, the decrease of Russian tourists to Turkey was one of the main factors. In the meantime, the number of Russian tourists to Albania increased by two percent. On the other hand, Brexit is expected to have its impact on the tourism industry.
