TIRANA, August 1
So far, the tourism sector is performing better in terms of incomes if compared to other markets. This was confirmed by the data issued by the Bank of Albania (BoA). Based on this information, tourist arrivals for the first quarter of 2016 provided a net positive income of Euro 67 million, which is higher if compared to the same period of the previous year.
Moreover, the sector is expected to perform in a positive way even during the second quarter of the year, which coincides with the peak of tourists coming to Albania.
Albania, as a well-known tourist destination for many visitors from different countries, even this year got the attention and curiosity of many foreign vacationers. They mostly book trips to several Albanian cities during the summer season.
This is the peak period for foreign tourists that show a major interest in the Albanian coastline, mountains, lakes, history and culture.
The long shoreline of the country offers the chance to explore beaches from the north to the south on the coast of the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Velipoja in Shkodra, Shengjin in Lezha, and other beaches in Durres, Vlora, Himara, and Saranda are the main destination of Albanian and foreign visitors.
Moreover, even the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Butrint, Gjirokastra and Berat and other major cities like Tirana, Kruja, and Shkodra are among the top destinations for historic and cultural tourism.
Economy experts consider the tourism potential as the best way not only for increasing households’ incomes but the country’s economy as well.
