The government will finance projects in the tourism industry through an open application and selection process that will be administered by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, Tourism and Entrepreneurship. The Ministry of Economic Development will select project – proposals based on the social and economic effects their implementation will have in the future.
The new decision approved by the parliament says the Ministry of Economic Development will fund research projects and initiatives that aim to promote the tourism industry in Albania.
The applications can be submitted by physical and legal persons, of Albanian or non-Albanian nationality. The Ministry will fund only 50% of the project’s expenses and 30% of the fund will be given by it in the beginning of the project while the remainder when the project finishes.
A dedicated Commission with members from the Ministry and Tourism associations has been created and will organize, manage and monitor the application and the selection of the winning processes.
The Ministry has not announced yet the date for the opening of the applications.
