The production of the electrical energy by the hydro power plants throughout Albania increased by 24, 1% during 2015 (5.866 GWh), according to official figures published by the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT). The network losses during decreased by 21, 1% due to the reduction of losses in the electrical energy distribution and transmission systems.
The largest amount of electrical energy was produced by state owned hydro power plants (75, 9%) while the remaining part was produced by private hydro power plants (24, 1%). This has caused the decrease of the electrical energy imported and the increase of exports, compared to 2014. The consumption of electrical energy by families increased by 0, 8% compared with the amount of energy consumed in 2014, while the consumption of energy by non-family subjects increased by 1, 5%.
The import of the electrical energy decreased by 29, 8% during 2015 while the export of it doubled compared to the amount of energy exported in 2014.
