Tirane, Albania
9 March, 2016
The Bank of Albania announced that in a latest auction, the treasury bonds with 6 and 12 month maturity have been emitted with a decreasing average interest, compared to a previous auction held by the Bank. In the latest auction, treasury bonds with 6 month maturity were emitted with an interest rate of 1.26% while treasury bonds with a 12 month maturity were emitted with an interest rate of 1.67%.
Bank of Albaniaโs experts say that the decrease of the average interest rates in this case has come as a result of the high liquidity of the financial system. Another reason is the decrease of the demand for financing by the Albanian government in the past months.
During the auction, the Bank of Albania sold ALL 14.3 billion treasury bonds. According to the bank, the average interest rates for treasury bonds will continue to be low even during 2016.
