The EBRD has given its approval for financing the electrical energy project that will connect Albania and Macedonia. The EBRD also announced it will finance the improvement of the electrical network with MEPSO’s infrastructure, the operator of electrical energy distribution of Macedonia.
Such projects are part of the agenda of cooperation between Western Balkan countries in the framework of IPA funds. According to the president of the EBRD, Sir Suma Chakrabarti, the support of such projects increases the electrical energy security. He said that “this project marks an important step towards the creation of a regional electrical energy market. We are happy that the project will be supported by the European Union.”
Currently, the project will be technically supported by WBIF for the financing of the feasibility studies, for the evaluation of the impact such project will have in the environment and for the compilation of the project.
