In a meeting held in Prague, the Albanian Ambassador to Prague Riza Poda discussed with the Czech Minister of Trade and Industry, Jan Mladek, the potential Albania and the Czech Republic have to enhance the mutual cooperation in the economic aspect. The Ambassador Poda underlined that Czech businessmen have many opportunities to invest in Albania and develop their businesses in the mining sectors, railway systems, gas distribution systems, ect.
In turn, the Czech Minister of Trade said the Czech Republic is highly interested to cooperate with the Albanian government and Albanian businesses in investing in such sectors. He added that Czech investors are interested to invest in railway systems, mining sector, gas supply systems, farm equipment and food industry. The Minister announced he will soon visit Albania together with a group of Czech investors. During this visit, the Czech Minister is expected to attend the next Czech – Albanian Joint Group for Economic Cooperation, a session that is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Albania and the Czech Republic have excellent political relations, which was highlighted in the meeting by the two high officials. In terms of economic cooperation, trade exchanges between the two countries increased by 10% during 2015, compared to 2014. During 2015, more than 16,000 Czech tourists visited Albania and in turn 8000 Albanian tourists visited the Czech Republic.
