Tirana, December 29, 2015
Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared the achievements and the objectives of the government for 2016 in a press conference. The Prime Minister made a resume of 2015 and spoke about pending issues as the tax on trucks applied by Italy for Albanian truckers and the maritime pact with Greece.
The Prime Minister opened the conference by saying: “I want to start this greeting by sharing the good news that Italy has lifted the EUR 500 tax for Albanian truckers who have been paying this tax for the last 25 years. Now all trucks that enter or leave the Italian territory will not pay such absurd tax and I have confirmed this news by the Italian Prime Minister Mateo Renzi who ensured me that the Italian government has presented the decision at the parliament. As soon as the decision is approved by the parliament, Albanian truckers will not have to pay any amount of money when entering or leaving the Italian territory.”
Speaking about the maritime pact with Greece, Prime Minister Rama declared that the Albanian government is ready to trust this issue to a third party. According to him, “Albania and Greece have friendly relations and are engaged in strategic and mutual interests in many aspects. We are ready to solve this issue through a third party accepted by both countries and Albania is opened for solution alternatives provided by both countries.
