The Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure announced on Tuesday that the Commission of the Evaluation of Offers has turned down the requests of two companies for giving with concession the National Road, for maintenance purposes.
Days before the deadline, the General Secretary at the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure, Eduard Seitaj has declared that the National Road will not yet be given with concession. The two running companies, according to Seitaj, have not met the criteria set by the Ministry of Transports and have not been in accordance with the public’s interest.
The concession worth $42 million was announced two years ago but the government has not yet found the right company that will be responsible for the continuous maintenance of the National Road and for the allocation of road toll that is predicted to set after a concessionary company will be announced.
