The standardization of tourism guides has been discussed in the second National Conference of Tourism Guides on December 11th, a conference co-organized by the “Risi Albania” project, the Ministries of Economic Development and the Social Welfare and the National Association of Tourism Guides.
The conference’s main theme was “The standardization of tourism guides for a sustainable tourism development in Albania” and the discussions focused on the processes of certification and standardization of tourism guides, as a process that will be complemented by a legal framework.
The current development of the tourism sector in Albania measured by the number of tourists urges the necessity for certified tourism guides and for a dedicated legal framework in this regard. Such development will provide more professional services to tourists and will regulate the market for independent tour guides.
Speakers at the conference stressed the importance of professionalism in this regard and the importance of having certified tour guides who will know how to share the right information with tourists and will preserve the nature and the historical and cultural inheritance of Albania.
