As the work for the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline has started in southern Albania, the deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi and the Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri inspected the construction site in Vithkuq – Shtyllas road segment. According to the local manager of TAP in Albania Shkelqim Bozgo, the progress of work is in accordance with the plan and forecasts. Bozgo announced that within January of 2016, the first pipelines will arrive in Albania.
The first phase of works consists of the construction and the reconstruction of axe roads which will be used for additional constructions for TAP project. According to the local manager of TAP in Albania, it is expected that the first pipelines will be mounted by the end of the first semiannual of 2016.
According to Minister of Energy, Gjiknuri, the major amount of money for the construction of this project will be disbursed during the next two years and this will have an immediate effect in the country’s economy. “Today, there are 1050 people employed on this project and this is having a big impact in the area. The government is collaborating with TAP in order to address the problems the community is facing during the constructions, since these interventions in the infrastructure have their disadvantages,“ declared Gjiknuri.
