After the announcement of the EBRD’s loan program for women entrepreneurs in Western Balkan countries, an agreement was signed between the EBRD’s First Vice President Phil Bennett and the CEO of Intensa Sao Paola bank, Silvio Pedrazi. Based on the agreement, the EBRD will provide an amount of EUR 2 million for Albanian women entrepreneurs and Intensa San Paola bank will be the executor of this program in Albania. The program also includes the offering of professional consults for women entrepreneurs who own small or medium enterprises.
Lately, EBRD launched a EUR 20 million funding program for women entrepreneurs in Western Balkan countries who own SMEs in order to empower this category of entrepreneurs with soft loans and technical assistance.
The EBRD’s First Vice President Phil Bennett declared that the EBRD’s program for women entrepreneurs will help in addressing the challenges that women face in running a business and also will provide financing opportunities and technical assistance for them. According to him, the empowerment of women helps in establishing a comprehensive society which is the key to a sustainable economic development.
