Production rate in the agriculture sector continues to perform positively, according to official figures published by the Ministry of Agriculture. During the period of January – October 2015, agricultural, livestock and agro industrial products reached the value of ALL 16.6 billion. Compared to the amount of agricultural products produced during the same period of a year before, the value of products increased by ALL 3.3 billion more. The reasons that have affected in increasing the production are the implementation of several supporting schemes and subsidies’ schemes, says the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Ministry stays positive, arguing that the agricultural production will increase in 2016 since the state budget for this sector has increased by 24%, at an amount of ALL 8.5 billion and that agriculture remains the government’s main priority.
According to the Ministry of Finances, the budget will be spent mainly on rehabilitating and maintaining irrigation and drainage systems in agricultural lands in order to ensure a better production and to avoid flooding. The Ministry of Agriculture will invest 70% more funds to projects related to the aforementioned priorities for 2016. Other priorities for the next year will be the rural development and subsidies’ schemes, for which the Ministry will invest an amount of ALL 3.5 billion.
