The Republic of Macedonia will not apply anymore the practice of stopping Albanian agricultural imports at the Albania – Macedonia borders. The news was announced by the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture through a press declaration on Wednesday, November 25th.
The official press declaration states that “We were just notified by the Albanian ambassador to Macedonia that the vise General Director of Macedonian Customs Lavderi Veliu has announced that the Macedonian government has decided to not stop at the border trucks with agricultural imports from Albania. The products will not be controlled at the border but will be allowed to be deposited to the nearest warehouse of their destination.” However, the agricultural goods will still be subject of phytosanitary analysis. Macedonia undertook strict measures about agricultural goods coming from Albania a week ago.
The Macedonia’s government decision about Albanian agricultural goods was also confirmed by the Macedonian Minister of Economy Bekim Neziri, according to which this decision has not yet been published officially but a document will be signed in this regard in the upcoming days.
