The World Bank will provide a EUR 32 million fund for the healthcare system in Albania. The news was announced by the head of the World Bank branch in Albania, Tahseen Sayed and the Minister of Healthcare Ilir Beqja during the presentation of “Healthcare system improvement” program.
According to Sayed, the Albanian authorities have started to work in the implementation of several objectives of this project which will be implemented for a period of five years. In turn, the Minister of Healthcare Ilir Beqja declared that the healthcare system in Albania needs such financial support in order to improve further.
The project will be focused on the improvement of regional hospitals in terms of logistics and functionality, and an amount of EUR 8 million will be put in disposal for the pediatric department. Through this fund, the Ministry aims to improve the urgency and surgery services, starting from the spring of 2016.
