Tirana / November 9, 2015
The Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Monday in a press conference that the government will not increase taxes for Albanian citizens during 2016 and that on Tuesday the IMF delegation to Albania will publish the report on the finalization of negotiations between the IMF and the Albanian government.
According to Rama, during this process the Albanian government has been favored by the IMF given that Albania has followed the suggestions of the IMF by undertaking several reforms.
Prime Minister Rama declared: “On Tuesday the IMF delegation will publish the report on the finalization of negotiations with Albania and I can say that there will be no increase of taxes for Albanian citizens. We will continue to invest in the country.
The IMF will confirm that the financial consolidation program has performed well and this is the most encouraging confirmation we can receive today, taking into account that this is a continuing process. We have created trust to the IMF delegation and this will give us the opportunity to continue further, although we cannot yet talk about final results.”
