The Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri met with the World Bank Director for Southeast Europe, Ellen Goldstein at the Ministry of Energy headquarters in Tirana. The two high ranked officials discussed about the performance of the reform in the energy sector in the past months. According to the Minister Gjiknuri the reform is giving positive results and the citizens have embraced the reform.
He added: “The energy sector has started to contribute in the country’s economy and the losses in the network have been reduced to 31%. The allocated amount of revenues from the sector has increased as well and for the past two years they are estimated to be EUR 200 ml from the outstanding debts.”
In turn, Goldstein evaluated the work done in this sector and the results the reform in the energy sector is showing. According to her, the improvement of the customer service will make more visible the positive results of the energy reform. Gjiknuri added that the government is compiling a new market model and is making efforts in the establishment of the energy stock exchange in Albania.
