According to the Institute of Statistics, the trade deficit in September of this year decreased by 9.9% in annual terms, compared to the deficit registered in September 2014. During September 2015, exports were estimated at the amount of ALL 20 billion, increasing by 32.6% compared to the previous month and decreasing by 4.4% compared to September 2014. Imports reached the value of ALL 44 billion, increasing by 9.4% compared to August and decreasing by 7.4% compared to September 2014.
The official figures say the decrease of exports has come as a result of the decrease of construction materials, metals and fuel exports while imports in minerals, fuel and electric energy decreased during September 2015.
In terms of trade partners for September 2015, Albania intensified trade exchanges by increasing its exports towards Italy, Kosovo and Malta, while it was noticed a decrease of the amount of exports in Spain, Greece and Macedonia. Countries that increased their exports to the Albaniaโs markets during September 2015 are Turkey, China and Germany while imports from Italy, Greece and Serbia decreased.
