The Albanian vice Minister of Energy Ilir Bejtja and the Greek ambassador to Tirana Leonidas Rokanas, discussed on the technical and economic safety which will be provided during the implementation of TAP project in Albania, starting from 2016. The discussions took place at the first Tirana Gas Pipelines Safety Workshop, organized on Thursday, October 8th by the Greek Embassy to Tirana and the Ministry of Energy and Industry.
The Greek ambassador said that security during the implementation of TAP project in Albania must be seen as one of the most important aspects and that the enforcement of the highest standards must be part of Albania’s agenda.
“This joint project that we are implementing along with Turkey, Italy and Albania will increase the geopolitical safety and will accelerate the economic development of these countries. Despite creating new jobs and opening new businesses, TAP is a very geostrategic project which will attract many investments and will create industrial activity such as the establishment of gas stations, thermal power plants, ect.,” declared the Greek ambassador Rokanas.
In turn, the vice Minister of Energy, Ilir Bejtja declared that Albania is aware of the importance of safety during the implementation of this huge project, in order to ensure a normal continuance of life for the residents in areas where TAP pipelines will be established. “We are applying the latest technology in order to provide a normal functioning of tubes and gas stations,” declared Bejtja.
