The American – Albanian Development Fund celebrated on Tuesday, October 06, the 20th anniversary of its existence and activity in Albania, in a special ceremony where among many high ranked government officials, present was also the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama. The ceremony was opened by the head of the AADF board of members, Michael Granoff.
According to the Prime Minister Edi Rama, the presence of the American – Albanian Fund for Development for the past 20 years, has affected in the country’s economy since through its project has generated about 7000 jobs and its contribution to the Albania’s GDP is circa $2 billion. This is a story of contribution to our country, declared Primer Rama referring to the AADF activity in Albania.
One of the most important investments made by the AADF according to Rama has been the establishment of the American Bank of Albania in 1998 which in a short time became the most important bank institution in the country.
“During 20 years of the AADF’s activity in Albania, this institution has established partnerships with the government, other institutions and experts. With an initial capital of $30 ml, the fund achieved to generate $300 ml in the next years. The investments made by the fund have attracted about $300 ml foreign investments,” declared the Prime Minister.
On behalf of this, the Prime Minister accorded the “Recognition Medal” to the AADF for its prominent contribution to the Albanian society. The head of the AADF’s board of members, Michael Granoff praised the award, by considering the giving of the award to the institution itself and not as an individual, as a wise decision.
