Tirana International Airport “Nene Tereza” will no longer have the exclusivity of being the only airport in Albania that provides international flights within the two upcoming weeks. The news was announced by the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Arben Ahmetaj during an interview.
Ahmetaj said that within two weeks he will make the official announcement for the removal of Tirana International Airport exclusivity for international flights in a joint press conference with the Minister of Transport and Industry Edmond Haxhinasto. “After this, we are allowed to begin the work in Kukes Airport and then we will proceed for the construction of Vlora and Saranda airports,” according to Ahmetaj.
There are four international companies that have expressed interest to invest in Saranda and Vlora airports since these cities are situated in the heart of the Albanian Riviera and are two of the most important tourism cities.
The establishment of new airports in touristic areas will also attract important companies that invest in resorts and the further development of tourism in Albania. We are currently making important investment in the infrastructure aspect in tourism cities and we are also investing in the mountain tourism, added the Minister of Economy and Tourism, Arben Ahmetaj.
