The parliamentary Commissions approved the reached agreement between the Albanian government and KfW Frankfurt am Maini company for IPA funds, which will finance projects for the improvement of water supply system in rural areas in Albania, worth 98 million EUR.
The Director of the Albanian Development Fund Benet Beci declared that this is the third stage of this project and its goals are the rehabilitation, the reconstruction or in some areas the construction of water supply system in rural areas.
Another aspect which will be covered by this project is the taking of measures to prevent the water pollution in the rural areas. The project will use schemes of rehabilitated water supply systems at affordable costs, and will be implemented throughout the country, with focus the rural areas with high number of stable population. Director Benet Beci added that the project is the advanced stage of a pilot program that started during the past year in some areas.
The program of the water supply system predicts that about 70 water supply schemes will be furnished with water during 24 hours and will last for the next five years.
