Protik Innovation Center started the “Start-Up Accelerator” program, aiming to support and instruct new Albanian businesses. The event took place at Protik offices in Tirana capital and was attended by Minister of Innovation and Public Administration, Milena Harito, Chairman of Albanian-American development fund Michael Granoff and Herny Jardine, deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania.
Among many participating projects which presented their activities to a panel of business specialists, the jury chose three winners, three new businesses established by young entrepreneurs. They will attend a six month practice which consists in trainings and consulting by experts and successful entrepreneurs in order to boost these new businesses.
‘Start-Up Accelerator’ was presented under the moto: “Take your startup to the next level with our six months accelerator program”. To help Albanian startups, Protik will identify potential sponsors to support and develop ideas that will result with innovative product/services to be marketed by the members of the accelerator program. The center will collaborate closely with ICT related initiatives to encourage graduated startups to access well-known competitions such as Eleven Venture Fund or Masschallenge Accelerator.
Protik Innovation Center opened in October 2012, is a local not-for-profit organization created through a joint contribution of the United States Agency for International Development USAID, the Albanian-American Development Foundation, the Government of Albania, Microsoft, Cisco, and Albtelecom. The mission of Protik is to catalyze the development of the ICT sector in Albania.
