Over 200 Organic Farms to Benefit from Agricultural Subsidies

TIRANA, May 10

About 16 million dollars will be allocated to Albanian farmers during this year in support to the agriculture sector. Farmers can apply for subsidizing schemes during May. This year, more importance will be given to organic farming because of the competitive advantages they provide.
Over 200 certified organic farms all over Albania, will benefit from the subsidizing schemes. Some Lek 200,000 will be allocated to each of the farms. Meanwhile, more livestock farmers will benefit from the scheme. They will receive government compensation starting from 50 animals instead of 100.
Moreover, attention will be paid to the infrastructure for better produce collection and storage in farms, chess making facilities, etc. This would provide a solution to the lack of collection for agricultural products and guarantee that all products are sold in the market.
In the meantime, even the aquaculture sector will benefit from the subsidizing scheme. Farmers must apply for the subsidizing scheme by May 31.
