TIRANA, October 24
Officials from the National Food Authority (NFA) seized over 2.5 tons of frozen fish and shrimp unfit for human consumption due to fish being stored in unsanitary conditions. The load was seized during a raid to a frozen food warehouse in the capital city. The fish was found degraded due to unappropriated storing and it also lacked the certificate of origin.
The subject was fined Lek 500,000 while the fish and shrimp load will be destroyed.
NFA encourages all the businesses and subjects in the food industry to meet the law requirements regarding the quality of the products that they produce, process, or distribute in the market. Moreover, the NFA calls on all the citizens to report cases of subjects that fail to meet food safety criteria.
