After many discussions, Economy Commission members approved on December 9 the $150 ml loan received by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, for improvements in the electrical energy sector. The loan will make possible that until 2016, every family contractor to have electric meters. This project will equip 300.000 family contractors with electric meters since many of these contractors don’t have yet electric meters or they are broken.
The draft project of the loan was presented at the Economy Commission by the deputy Minister of Energy, Ilir Bejtja, entitled “For the ratification of the loan agreement, between the Republic of Albania and International Bank of Reconstruction and Development, for the financing of the improvement of electrical energy sector project.”
Bejtja declared at the meeting: There will be about 300.000 electrical power meters bought by this loan and installed within 2016. This will make possible the equipment of all electrical energy consumers with electrical meters and the substitute of previous electrical meters. But this loan will not resolve the problem itself, since there are needed about $1 ml to complete this project.”
According to Bejtja, the project for the recovery of this sector is comprised by four elements. The mayor part of the loan amount will go to the OSHEE (The Operator for the Distribution of the Electrical Energy), about $93 ml for the buying of new electrical meters and extra improvements in the distribution network. $30 ml will go to the Electrical Energy Corporation, for the guarantee of the electrical energy and controls in times of bad weather. Another key project is the improvement of the electrical energy measurement process and for that will go $20 to the OST (The Operator of the Transmission System). The fourth project in which will be invested in relates to the management of the project and for that will go $6ml.
