In the framework of the Italian-Albanian Development Cooperation Programme, 12 new projects will be financed by the IADSA (Debt for Development Swap Program) funding project. The ceremony of the signing on contracts for the financing of 12 new projects at a total amount of 4.6 million eur, held on September 23 at the headquarters of the Albanian Ministry of Finance. Present in the ceremony were the Minister of Finances, Shkelqim Cani, the Italian ambassador in Albania, Massimo Gaiani, the winners of 12 projects and other high officials. The winning projects are based on strategic priorities in need for further development and come from concerned Albanian Public Institutions.
“The fact that these project-proposals cover all priority sectors of the National Strategy of Development and Integration, and their geographical reach all over the areas, is a positive premise for their expected success,” declared Minister Shkelqim Cani.
The chosen projects’ results can be measured and it is expected to have a very positive impact at the recipients. There are 5 winning projects from the central government institutions and 7 of them come from the local government institutions. The projects are focused in the education field, health system, agrotouristic development and in the support of people with disabilities.
The four year term project of IADSA is in its second year of implementation of this 20 million eur funding program. In its first phase, 13 projects were financed at a value of 4.5 million eur. The start of the third phase will be announced before the end of 2014.
