TIRANA, November 15
The number of tourists that are going to visit Albania during the next season is expected to increase by 30percent. This was declared on Tuesday by the chair of the Albanian Travel Operators Union (UOTSH), Rahman Kasa. Tourism promotion and development and the necessary measures for the upcoming season were the focus of a meeting held between UOTSH and the Minister of Economy, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship, Milva Ekonomi.
One of the topics that were stressed by the participants was the quality of Albanian tourism as a key condition for the development of the sector.
“Quality improvement is a process that requires mutual efforts by the government and the subjects that operate in this sector,” Minister Ekonomi said.
Moreover, she added that the bylaws of the Law on Tourism related to the qualification of lodging and accommodation structures, tourist booklets, tour operators and travel agencies will help to increase the number of visitors in Albania.
She also highlighted that the process doesn’t aim at penalizing subjects that operate in this sector. It serves to meet the right standards for accommodation structures.
Oh his part, the chair of UOTSH asked to continue the organization of tourism fairs. Regarding this issue, it was confirmed that two fairs on tourism are listed at the National Expo Center. Tirana International Tourism Fair and Mediterranean Tourism Fair are two events that aim at drawing attention to Albania not only as a tourist destination but also as a platform for the presentation of tourism offers by other countries of the region and Europe.
In the frame of the initiatives for further promoting Albania, besides promotional cultural activities, a form that will be filled by visitors in border crossing points may help to get accurate data about tourists that enter Albania.
